July was a pretty extraordinary month in which I was lucky enough to attend the Druskininkai Artists’ Residence writing a piece for the Vilnius-based Brevis Choir conducted by Gintautas Venislovas which was performed in the resonant space of St John’s Church, Vilnius. The performance can be heard here (along with the other, excellent, pieces by my fellow DAR-ers) though I am currently engaged in some structural maintenance with the piece.
Sound and Music were the co-organisers and a post about my experience is up here at their blog site.
Earlier in July my piece for melodicas, harmoniphon vexed was performed at Music We’d Like to Hear and it seems that this was recorded and will go out on Radio 3’s Hear and Now programme on 8th August.
Also in August the CoMA Summer School takes place at which James Weeks will, amongst many other things, be working with summer school attendees on a brand new collection of partsongs including a new piece by me, lohengrin from Jandl Songs.
And on 22nd August I’ll be supporting Audrey Chen, Part Wild Horses Mane on Both Sides, and Hallatt/Piercy in Leeds at Cops & Robbers at Wharf Chambers.
