Freaking Glamorous Teapot

Bank Street Arts
8pm, £5PHIL MINTON – instigator of the Feral Choir, veteran of the Mike Westbrook Orchestra, collaborator with Sally Potter, Mike Figgis, Peter Brötzmann and James Joyce, 1988 International Jazz Forum’s ‘Best Male Singer in Europe’.
Phil is joined by Sheffield-based co-conspirator LUKE POOT (Lovely Honkey, Very Rich Lexicon) for a night of vocal mischief.
“Minton is the most thrilling singer we have, with a messianic passion so fierce that his performances glow as brightly as Blake’s own tyger” (The Independent)
“majestically ludicrous babble” (Sunday Times)

Plus the inexorable unspooling invention of free music scene veterans JOHN JASNOCH & CHARLIE COLLINS (The Navigators, Sonny Simmons Quartet, ClockDVA, Derek Bailey’s Company Week) – 12 string guitar & percussion intricacies.

Over the snake pass from Manchester way come two wildly contrasting artists: guitarist DAVID BIRCHALL – “A psychedelic maelstrom that threatens to melt your walls” (Mojo);

And POORMOUTH, aka Sheffield-born Ben Knight (Psykick Dancehall Recordings/Marvo Men/Human Heads) – “A totally unclassifiable sing-song, stream of consciousness, dream-like encounter with Poormouth. Blimey!” (Posset).

Finally, they’re not on the poster but oh lordy they’ll be there, the bizarro world of FREAKING GLAMOROUS TEAPOT
